Our Caregiver of the Month: Gloria Johnson

January 17, 2018
After one visit to her home where she won't let you leave without her home made fudge, it is easy to see the story below is true and that love that flows from our Caregiver of the Month, Gloria Johnson. This caregiver embodies the full meaning of caring for someone else - and she does it with such an amazing attitude. Gloria Johnson takes care of her husband, Iliff Johnson - who has Alzheimer's disease. She is his cook, physical therapist, nurse, maid, chauffeur, friend, encourager, prayer warrior, his hands, and his voice. This horrible disease has taken so much away from her husband but instead of focusing on the loss, she focuses on what she has. Each day when I speak with her - it is the best day of her life - her disposition is always upbeat. She is patient and kind. She has her own aches and pains but will never complain about herself. She always has something positive to offer. Anyone that knows her will tell you they are a better person for knowing Gloria Johnson. After spending time with her, you feel her love because she is always giving it away. She also has a heart for homeless people and gives blankets, food or whatever she can. Gloria is 83 years young. My grandmother use to say, "pretty is as pretty does" - Gloria is a beautiful person - inside and out! Submitted by Rhonda Smart   At the end of twelve months the review committee will select the Caregiver of the Year to be revealed at the Annual Luncheon. The Caregiver of the Year will win a 3-night trip to Florida, $200 spending money and an engraved gift and plaque. Do you know a Caregiver? Nominate them today!
