Our January Caregiver of the Month

April 29, 2016
Alton Cantarutti is the winner of the January Caregiver of the Month Award, presented by Family Legacy. Alton was nominated by Rodney Edwards and the staff. Michell Price presents the award to Alton Cantarutti. "Mary Jo Cantarutti couldn't have had a better son." That's how Alton Cantarutti's wife, Ann, started our conversation. Caring for his parents is not something new for Alton. He supported his mother in many ways as she provided care to his father years ago in a losing battle with cancer. So when Alton's mother became ill in October of 2014, Alton and Ann moved in to provide her constant care in a familiar environment. There were many trips to the hospital for extended periods during this time and, while working a full time job, Alton never missed a single night visiting his mother. During her critical care periods he would also stay through the night with his mother and maintain his work schedule during the day. Marrying the right wife has helped and Alton's wife, Ann, was a constant source of care and support as well. As a team they provided a level of care that a parent could only hope to receive. Continuing his father's caring ways is Keith who also pitched in to provide loving care to his grandmother. I worked with Alton during the year long period of his mother's illnesses and he maintained a strong work ethic, cheerfulness and service to others. I believe others in our company were inspired to a higher commitment of service to their own parents because of Alton's example. In the end, it's what we do for others that really determines who we are and Alton proved his love and devotion through the last year of his mother's life. One of Mrs. Cantarutti's favorite scripture verses was Isaiah 40:31, "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." I think Alton was the way that God renewed his mother's strength many times. As submitted by Rodney Edwards and the staff. Each monthly Caregiver Award winner will receive a gift card that can be used for whatever the recipient decides and a 3D crystal key ring. At the end of twelve months the review committee will select the Caregiver of the Year to be revealed at the Annual Luncheon. The Caregiver of the Year will win a 3-night trip to Florida, $200 spending money and an engraved gift and plaque. Do you know a Caregiver? Nominate them today!
