Andrew David Strickert

October 20, 1953 - October 19, 2017

Andrew David Strickert, 63, of Nashville, passed away on October 19, 2017.

He was born in Nashville to Roland R. and Waneta S. Strickert. Andrew graduated from Hillsboro High School, was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, and an honors graduate of Tennessee State University.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janice; sons Tom (Beth) Strickert of Murfreesboro and Andy (Teri) Strickert of Hudson, IL; daughters Stacy (Rick) Sims of Bloomington, IL, Becky (Mike) Jackson of Bloomington, IL, and Mandy Strickert of Mount Zion, IL; step son, Jimmy Nushardt, of Clarksville, TN; his mother, Waneta Strickert of Nashville; nine grandchildren; and sisters Claudia (Mike) Forde of Durham, NC, Sarah (Corkey) Baker of Hermitage, and Emily (Jeff) Agee of Durham, NC. He was preceded in death by his father, Roland Strickert.

Andrew was a passionate Tennessee Titans fan and wrote blogs for goTitans.com (as A.D.) and totaltitans.wordpress.com. He was also an avid fan of North Carolina Tar Heels basketball and Tennessee Volunteers football. Andrew enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, playing pool, and card games. He and Janice enjoyed vacationing in Biloxi, MS.

In recent years, Andrew was an active member at Gilda's Club, a cancer support community. He also spent significant time performing volunteer work at Gilda's Club.

Andrew was a talented writer with a quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and adept analytical skills. He had a passion for couponing and finding amazing bargains.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Veterans Administration Hospital, who provided excellent care throughout Andrew's extended illness, and to Andrew's friends at Gilda's Club.

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 22, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and Monday, October 23, from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at West Harpeth Funeral Home, 6962 Charlotte Pike, Nashville. Services will be on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at West Harpeth Funeral Home, with burial afterwards at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 Highway 100, Nashville.
