Barbara Lynn Miller Frakes Greene of Fairview, TN passed away on Monday morning, Feb.6th, 2023 at the age of 80. Although she had often commented she hoped and intended to live to be 100 yrs old like her grandmother, Elsie Eddy, she had been in increasingly failing health for the last five years. She was born on Aug. 18th,1942 to Pauline Jordon Miller and George Richard Miller in Nashville, TN. Barbara was an only child but was raised with her great aunt, Jo Ann Eddy, who was two years younger than her. She centered her entire life around her family and was a married homemaker for 24 years to her high school sweetheart, Donald Frakes. She often said that the years of raising her two daughters were the best years of her life. She enjoyed reading, and painting in both oil and acrylic paints as well as watercolors and had many of her artwork pieces displayed in her home as well the homes of her family members. She also enjoyed traveling when she could, especially her trips to the beach as well as just taking road trips to enjoy a pretty day from time to time. Barbara often commented about what a truly beautiful world God had made for us. Barbara was baptized as a teen at the former Charlotte Ave. Church of Christ. She dearly loved both her grandchildren and attended many of their events throughout the years but was very instrumental in the upbringing of her second grandchild, Olivia. She also enjoyed doing digital scrapbooking with some of her family photos and flower arranging. Her front yard is full of many flowers she planted or had her daughter Shellie plant and she enjoyed them year after year. Ms.Barbara graduated from Cohn High School in the class of 1960. She went for a year to David Lipscomb College. Later when her children left home she returned to college and finished her degree in Computer Science and Repair from Nashville State Community College. She was preceded in death by her mother Pauline Jordon Miller and father George Richard Miller, her grandmother Elsie Eddy, her great aunt with whom she was raised, Jo Ann Eddy, and her friend Princeton Westmoreland as well as many aunts and uncles. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her eldest daughter Kimberly Frakes Rust, her youngest daughter Shellie Frakes Benderman, her first grandchild, grandson Lucas Ryan Rust and her former husband Donald Frakes as well as her best friend Vera Vanderpool, one uncle and many wonderful cousins. Barbara was truly one of the most loving people you would ever meet and friends everywhere were drawn to her for her pleasant disposition, good advice, and soft, calming voice. She will be missed by so many.
