Barbara Estes Page of Franklin, TN, entered another phase of her life on April 21, 2021. She was born on August 25, 1938 in Durham, NC to Idalane Garrard Estes and Robert Raeford Estes, both deceased as is her stepfather, Sherrill J. Smith of Durham, NC. She is survived by Richard Page, her husband of 59 years as well as children Laura Page Williams (Ned) of Franklin, TN and Rick Page of Brentwood, TN; seven grandchildren, Kate Sullivan (Ben) with great grandson, Graham Sullivan, Laney, Elizabeth and Caleb Williams and Reed, Wyatt and Darby Page. Also surviving are two brothers, Robert R. Estes, Jr. (Peggy) of Peachtree City, GA, and Luther S. Smith (Rebecca) of Durham, NC.

Barbara was born into a very hard-working family, many of whom worked in cotton mills or tobacco factories. It was common for family members to quit school early to work to help support their families. Barbara was the first female in her family to graduate from high school. She then went to work at Duke University where she met her future husband.

After their marriage, she was employed by The University of Massachusetts, a law firm in Dalton, GA, and a manufacturing firm in Somerville, NJ. She worked in the Neurology Department of the Vanderbilt Medical Center for over 30 years. However, her real ‘profession' was seeing that her two children were well cared for, were where they were supposed to be and doing what they were supposed to be doing.

The family would like to thank the care givers at Home Care Assistance, The Hearth at Franklin, and Guardian Hospice for the kind and thoughtful care they gave Barbara.

A memorial service will be at 10 AM, Saturday, May 15, 2021. Visitation with the family to follow, beginning at 11 AM, all at Belle Meade United Methodist Church, 121 Davidson Road, Nashville, TN 37205.
