Barbara Jean Rauschenberger born August 3, 1940, died January 26, 2023 after a valiant battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She is preceded in death by her parents Ennis and Ruby Rauschenberger and sister Mary Ann who died in infancy prior to Barbara’s birth.
Barbara attended Tennessee Tech and East Tennessee State University where she earned her BS in Nursing. She worked in many areas of nursing during her 30-year career and retired from Skyline Tri-Star Medical Center (old Nashville Memorial Hospital) in 2000. Barbara volunteered at the VA Hospital in Nashville, Meals on Wheels in Springfield, and Skyline Medical Center.
Barbara served as a Hospital Corpsman in the US Navy during the Vietnam era and was awarded the American Spirit Honor Medal of which she was most proud.
Survived by friends Shirley Goodrick, Wendy Graham, Hilda Phipps, Nancy Brewington, Jere Sawyers; family Ida and Don Forte, Carolyn Prevatte, Jim and Betty Tabor, Tommy Tabor, and Jimmy Tabor, Harry and Joyce Rauschenberger. Barbara will be remembered for her generosity, especially sharing her homemade goodies at Christmas, spontaneity, her bright smile, and her love of God and country.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at West Harpeth Funeral Home (6962 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN 37209) followed by the funeral service at 1:00pm. Private Interment at Mt Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Nashville Humane Society.
