Barbara A. Vaughan, age 87, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019 in the comfort of her home. She was born on August 22, 1932 to the late Benjamin Wesley Maynard and Dorothy Genevieve Maynard in Caddoa, CO.
Along with her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brothers, Lyman Maynard and Bennie Maynard.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 62 years, Gary Dale Vaughan and their children, Michael Vaughan(Lenora), Tammy Sands(Bobby), Dee Ray(Mark), and David Vaughan. Barbara is also survived by her grandchildren, Dusty Sands(Payton), Danielle Williams(Josh), and Lorin Wood(Colby); great-grandchildren, Devon Sands, Ella Williams, and Colton Wood; sister, Flora Jean Blasdell(Richard); brother, Gary Maynard(Sherry); and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Maynard and Beverly Maynard.
Barbara was a member of Emmanuel Church of Christ in Donelson, TN. Her church and church family were very important to her. There was nothing she loved more than being a grandmother; all of her grandchildren knew her as "Nanny". Barbara was an avid bowler throughout her life. She was in a number of bowling leagues; and she shared the love of bowling with her husband, daughter, and grandson. She enjoyed doing anything that got her out and about, and loved her trips back home to Arizona to visit family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 11:30am in the chapel of West Harpeth Funeral Home in Nashville. Visitation will also be held on Friday, from 9:30am until the time of service. Barbara will be laid to rest at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00pm.
