She loved the beach life and sitting in the warm sunshine. When she was still steady on her feet, she like to walk in the sand. She lived in Venture Out at Panama City Beach, FL before her illness. Barbara loved her family dearly. She didn't have children of her own, so she treated her nieces and nephew and great nieces and nephews like they were her own, always remembering birthdays and special occasions. She had a mean dog named Gypsy that only liked her and would try to bite everyone else. She was so sad when Gypsy died. She liked playing the card game Rook and always wanted to win. She was described by her friends and neighbors as one of the kindest people you could meet. She would go out of her way to help others to the point that sometimes we worried she would be taken advantage of. She could make you laugh until your sides hurt. She knew how to playfully tease folks without insulting or hurting them. She was easy going and went with the flow. Our heavenly image of Barbara is her on the beach with Gypsy by her side and all of her loved ones who preceded her in death. The beach has sand whiter than the mind can imagine and the water is crystal clear with a hint of blue. She is drinking water but in heaven it taste like a cherry coke because she just hated that water was tasteless. In her younger days, we remember that she would coat her face with cold cream, put Noxzema on her lips, curlers in her hair, and wrap toilet paper around her head to keep the curlers from slipping while she slept. All of this to maintain her youthful appearance. As kids, this beauty regimen was a bit scary; but it has now become a fond memory of an aunt we dearly love and will miss. We are grateful that Jesus called her home because although our hearts are longing for a time long ago when she was well and we had good times, it is replaced by the knowledge that she was no longer able to enjoy life as we know it
