Bill Morton passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015 in Nashville, TN at the age of 81. Bill is survived by his wife, Patricia Morton and son, Bill Morton Jr. Bill was born in 1933 in Bon Aqua, TN to John and Cenia Morton. After attending Cohn High School he joined the Army and served with the 101st Airborne. Bill worked as a project engineer for Exxon Mobile until he retired in 1995.
Bill was an accomplished stock car driver from the 1950's to approximately 1980. During the fall of 1971, Bill installed a second seat in the #101 Chevelle and gave rides during intermission and the State Fair where riders became an Official Member of the Union 76 100 Mile Per Hour Club. In 2010 he was inducted into the Nashville Fairgrounds Motor Speedway Hall of Fame. He was a generous, fun loving individual who lived life to the fullest.
Visitation is scheduled from 1-8 pm Wednesday, October 7, at West Harpeth Funeral Home at 6962 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN 37209, with another visitation Thursday, October 8 from 10-11:30 am with a service to follow. The burial will be held at 1 pm at the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Lane in Nashville, TN. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill's life.
