Robert (Bob) Werle, 85, a beloved member of the community left our physical world on November 5, 2023. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many. A landscape architect by trade, he loved working outside. Whether it was caring for trees, building rock waterfalls or working on his beautiful wood home, he just enjoyed being in and around nature. An avid dancer, Bob and his wife, Carol danced ballroom and western for years. Bob loved the support & kindness of the Nashville dance community. Bob enjoyed travelling, eating good meals, hearing great music, hanging with his kids, reading the New Yorker—actually, he enjoyed most things; it’s hard to narrow the list. Bob’s true passion was environmental conservation—he was a pioneer of the solar energy movement and continued his work in solar throughout his career and retirement. He was an optimist to the end and a great inspiration to many people, young and old. From the guys down at the Home Depot to his friends at Belle Meade United Methodist Church to his colleagues & neighbors in the many Bellevue civic organizations that he was a part of. He was always full of joy. Bob’s family and friends miss him dearly but take great comfort in knowing his spirit will continue through the people’s lives that he touched and the trees that he planted.
