Brown James “Buddy” Layne, III, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. He was born in Nashville on November 4, 1947, to the late Brown James and Hattie Slaughter Layne, II. Buddy proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed taking trips to the casino with his friends, going shopping, and singing karaoke around town. He was a gifted guitarist and even began teaching his great-granddaughter how to play. Buddy liked collecting and shooting guns as well. Buddy had a generous heart and loved to spoil others.

In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his wife, Janice; daughter, Amy “Nikki” Beadles; brother, Kim; and Sister, Janiece.

He is survived by his granddaughter, Rachel (Cody) Garcia; grandson, Michael Hill; sister, Anita (Roger) Rotoni; great-grandchildren, Rylee, Liam, and Harrison; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members and beloved friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at West Harpeth Funeral Home located at 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 12:00PM until 1:00PM in the Chapel at West Harpeth. A Celebration of Buddy’s Life will begin at 1:00PM in the Chapel. Following the service, Buddy will be laid to rest in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
