Carrol Dean Gray Darks went to be with the Angels on October 10, 2022. Born December 5, 1947 to parents Lucien ‘Smiley’ & Elizabeth Gray in the Centenary community of Nashville, Tennessee.
“Dee” as she was known by her family and closest friends is survived by her two sisters: Bertha Carney and Shirley (Charles) Shrader. Daughter, Amy Potter and son Jason Darks. Grandchildren, Kayla (Sean) Harrell, Joey Darks and his mother, Renee Darks. Elijah (Kayla) Potter, Hannah Potter, Evan Potter and their father, David Potter. One great-grandchild, Charlotte Harrell and nieces and nephews: Daryl Gray, Jeff (Laura) Gray, Janine (Billy) Powers, Audrey Pate and Ryan (Krystal) Shrader.
Preceded in death by her parents, Smiley & Elizabeth Gray, beloved Aunt and Uncle, Zeb and Bertha Travis, her brother & sister-n-law, Vernon and Loretta Gray and nephew Ronnie Carney.
A lifetime resident of the West Nashville Charlotte Park area, she retired from South Central Bell in 2000 and was an active long-time church member of Charlotte Road Baptist Church. After retirement, she enjoyed her traveling adventures with her church friends and she was known in the community as an avid seamstress for her custom sewing creations and projects.
A 1965 graduate of Bellevue High School, she was an active supporter of the Bellevue Alumni Association, loved board games, sewing, traveling, family, church and especially singing with the choir. She will also be remembered for her portrayal of her favorite Halloween character, Griselda the witch; whom many came to know and look forward to every October.
Visitation will be held at West Harpeth Funeral Home, 6962 Charlotte Pike on Wednesday, October 19th from 4 – 8pm and again on Thursday, October 20th from 12 – 2pm, with services immediately to follow at 2pm. Burial will follow at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens on Highway 100 with Neil Pedigo officiating.
Flower memorials can be accepted at West Harpeth Funeral Home or you can choose to make a monetary donation in her name to the charitable organization of your choice.
