Charles Daniel Saunders "Cotton", of Joelton, Tennessee, passed away at the age of 73 on July 20, 2019. He was born to Nelda Traughber and Elmo Saunders and remained their only child. Charles married Pat Reid in January 1967.

Charles was a machinist by trade before serving honorably in the army during the Vietnam conflict. Charles moved his family to Colorado where he lived for 16 years while working at Rocky Flats, again serving his country, as a cold war patriot. Returning to Nashville in 1993, he was able to care for his parents before retiring.

Though Charles had serious health problems of his own, related to the service of his country, his passion the last 20 years was to fight for the rights and benefits coverage for fellow service men and women.

Charles is survived by his loving Wife of 52 years ‐ Pat Saunders; daughter ‐ Susan Saunders; son, Daniel (Sara) Saunders.

A Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at 12PM, at West Harpeth Funeral Home with Charlie Spillers officiating. Interment will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 3PM until 7PM, and on Saturday from 11AM until the service time at 12PM at West Harpeth Funeral Home on Charlotte.
