SHOPE, Charles William �Bill� - Age 79 years, of Nashville, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011. Bill graduated from Shawnee High School in Lima, Ohio. He was a proud veteran of the US Army Airborne 187 Division from 1951-1954. He attended both UT Knoxville and MTSU in Murfreesboro. Bill taught high school in Dickson Country from 1980- 1987. He was the founder and owner of Hillwood Wrecker and Body Shop since 1954. He achieved the American Towman Assocation honor in 2007, traveling to Baltimore, Maryland, to receive his medal. Bill was a member of the Bellevue Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Henry and Hazel Shope; siblings, Ella Dickson, Pat Williams, Linda Savio, and John Shope. Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Myrtis Shope; children, Mike Gloria Shope, Dale Shope, and Renee John Swanson; grandchildren, Stephen Shope, Amy Brian Henley, Emily Johnny Neely, Lindsey Shope, and Stephanie Shope; 4 great grandchildren; and his sister, Dorothy Rice. The Life Celebration service will be on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at 11am, at the Bellevue Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Hammer and Bro. Mike Shelton officiating. Interment will follow at Dickson County Memorial Gardens with military honors. Active pallbearers will be: Gary and Dennis Petty, John Swanson, Stephen Shope, Willie Coleman, and Kerry Bissenger. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Joe Burns, Jim Haltom, Terry Lee, Buddy Springer, Doyle Roland, Johnny Neely, Harry Allen, Randy Brock, Chief Tim Eades, Tom Hinkle and the Employees of Hillwood Wrecker Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to the Alive Hospice or American Heart association. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-8pm, at the West Harpeth Funeral Home, and on Saturday from 10am until the service hour at the Bellevue Baptist Church.
