Cora Alice Terwilliger

Cora Alice Ward Terwilliger, also know as “Ma T” died at her home at the age of 94. Born July 5th, 1929, deceased, November 4, 2023.  Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Floyd D. “Pete” Terwilliger (Pete Daddy); sons, Dwight and Stephen; grandson, Nicholas. She leaves to mourn her death her children, Nancy Harding (Noel), James Lewis “Bo” Terwilliger, Alice Jane Williams, Shelia Reese (Mike); grandchildren, Dwight III, Morgan Jane Mackey (Chad), Winston, Cody (Angela), Little Bo (Lisa), Ronnie Williams (Tiffany), and Lacy Reese; great grandchildren, Dwight IV, Dakota, Kaiden, Addison, Carson, Wyatt, Aubree, Alysia, Cora and Evelyn; great great granddaughter, Avery; one sister, Caroline Lauderdale; many nieces and nephews she loved dearly. 

Ma T was born and raised on a farm in Hartsville, TN.  She was one of seven children.  She married Pete at the age of 18.  They started their family 2 years later and had 6 children within ten years, raising them all in West Nashville.  She was a homemaker and stay at home Mother.  Ma T loved her family with all her heart.  They were her life.  There was nothing she loved better than caring for them.  From the delicious home cooked meals to the beautiful Christmas trees and everything in between.

Ma T always had a shoulder to lean on and time to listen.  She had “healing hands” that comforted in times of trouble and sickness.  A book could be written about all her wonderful qualities.

Special thanks to Darlene Vanetta for her friendship, love and kindness.  She was a blessing to Ma T and her family.

Special thanks and prayers for Shelia and most especially Lacy for all the love, compassion and understanding she showed her grandmother during the last few years.  You didn’t see Lacy without Ma T. Pallbearers are Dwight III, Winston, Cody, Little Bo, Ronnie, and Dwight IV.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 7, 2023, between the hours of 2pm and 8pm, and Wednesday, November 8, 2023, from 9am until the service time of 11am.  Interment will follow the service at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 Hwy. 100, Nashville, TN.
