Daniel Boyd Edwards, age 90 of Portland passed away October 17, 2011. Mr. Edwards joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served with the Marines throughout the South Pacific in World War II; he was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a master of all trades and always left things better than he found them. He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel B. and Bertha Edwards; brothers, Earl, Loyd and Joe Edwards; and step-son, Kevin Howse. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Saundra Edwards; son Marshall Susie Edwards; daughter, Dianne Ayers; step-son, Randall Howse; grandchildren, Marshall Edwards, Jr., Monee King, Matthew Edwards, Merry Sexton, Dawn Blackledge, Lee Ayers, Wayne Ayers and Alan Ayers; 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Howard Edwards, Loys Joyce Edwards and Glen Sue Edwards; and sisters, Pauline Roberts and Verble James. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Bennett, Ronald Shoulders, Marshall Edwards, Jr., Matthew Edwards, Alan Ayers, Wayne Ayers, Lee Ayers and Dalton Ayers. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday from 12-1 p.m. at Crestview Funeral Home. A life celebration service will be conducted on Saturday, October 22nd at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Crestview Funeral Home with Chad Loveless officiating.
