Donald Burns

June 23, 1950 — June 30, 2023

Donald Gene Burns (Don), age 73, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023, while visiting friends in Florida. Born in Franklin, Tennessee, Don spent most of his life in Nashville.  He was a graduate of Cohn High School, and a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country in Vietnam. Upon his return from service, he worked as a contractor, renovating numerous homes throughout Middle Tennessee. Most recently, Don and his family lived on their farm in Dickson County.  It was on that farm that Don spent the happiest years of his life.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Joe Burns. He is survived his partner, Jimmy Gibson, and family members Nikki Gibson, Logan Gibson, Caroline Gibson, Annabellle Gibson, and Chris Mehringer. He is also survived by two brothers, Danny Burns (Susan) and Mike Burns (Joyce); his nephew, Eric Burns; great-nieces Keegan and Kendall Burns; great-nephew, Daniel Burns; and by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him very much.

Visitation will be held at West Harpeth Funeral Home (6962 Charlotte Pike, 615-352-9400) Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 9:30AM-12:30PM and a graveside service will follow at 1PM at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery (7931 McCrory Lane).  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System.
