Patrick Howard Moulton
1943-2018
Nashville - Dr. Patrick Moulton, 74, passed away on August 7th, after having been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer just a week earlier.
He was preceded in death by his parents A. Howard Moulton and Gene Hoes Moulton of Knoxville. Patrick is survived by his two sons, Chris and Michael (Brevard, NC), daughter Susan Evans (Sid), two grandchildren, Phoebe and Austin (Birmingham), as well as his sister Jane Parnes (Harold) (Santa Rosa, CA).
Pat grew up in Knoxville and attended the University of Tennessee where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity before earning his medical degree at the University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis in 1968. He was selected to be a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He performed a medicine internship at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. After his internship, he served as a General Medical Officer in the U.S. Naval Medical Corps for three years. He completed his diagnostic radiology residency at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. After moving to Nashville in 1976, he worked for Radiology Alliance where he specialized in diagnostic and interventional radiology until just recently retiring this past spring.
Pat will be remembered for his incredible work ethic and devotion to medicine as well as his dry and sarcastic wit, insatiable curiosity, sharp intellect, and love of literary fiction, magazines, music, and offbeat art films. He was truly one-of-a-kind, and will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
There will be a private family burial in the nature preserve at Larkspur Conservation at Taylor Hollow in Sumter County outside Nashville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or The Nature Conservancy.
