Dr. John Edmund Starron, Jr., age 81, passed away on October 31st. His son, J. Geoffrey Starron, and his daughter, Julie S. Partee, were by his side. Dr. Starron was born November 11, 1933, in Niagara Falls, New York. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane P. Starron who passed in 1997, his parents, Helen Bator Starron and John Edmund Starron, Sr., and his brother, Robert Starron. Dr. Starron is survived by his two children, J. Geoffrey Starron and Julie S. Partee, along with his two grandchildren, Sydney M. Partee and Tyler L. Partee.
Dr. Starron served in the Korean War as an Air Force SSG and was in Pusan during the famous Pusan Perimeter. Following the war he served in the Air Force Reserves until 1960. He married his wife, Jane P. Starron, in 1966 and earned a Ph.D. from the American University in 1979. He worked as a Professor of Political Science and Public Administration for the National Defense University's Industrial College of the Armed Forces at Ft. McNair in Washington, DC, until his retirement from Civil Service in 1999, when he was awarded the Superior Civilian Service Award and moved to Tennessee.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, November 6, 2015 from 9:30am until 10:30am at West Harpeth Funeral Home, 6962 Charlotte Pike, 615-352-9400. A graveside service will follow at 11:00am at Middle TN Veterans Cemetery on McCrory Lane in Pegram, TN.
