Edward Patrick Brunner, Jr. or Eddie Jr. or Uncle Ed as he was known to his family resided in Dickson, TN for the past 12 years and died in Nashville, TN on the morning of Tuesday, December 27, 2016. He was 88 years old.
Edward was born on June 11, 1928 in Nashville, TN to Edward Patrick Brunner, Sr and Elma Pond. He grew up in Nashville TN and Dallas, living with his dad most of the time. He attended Jesuit High School in Dallas, TX and graduated from Father Ryan in Nashville, TN in 1945 then went on to Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL.
He entered the Army in 1950 and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He met Rosemary Ruth Leahy in 1951 and was married in February of 1953. He worked for a paper company as a salesman when they first married and went on to be a star salesman at Johns-Manville and Nashua Corporation. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his own company in the late 1960's while still working for Johns-Manville. This venture gave many of his family members and friend's children their first jobs and introduced them to the working world. As he got older, his entrepreneurial spirit continued as he had a picture framing business which he enjoyed.
His love of basketball came from his years at Father Ryan and he took those skills to start the first basketball team at Mary Immaculate Church in Farmers Branch, TX where they had settled to raise their family.
He is preceded in death by his son, Edward Patrick (Pat) Brunner III on May 31, 1971 and cousin, William (Billy) Fox on July 11, 1997.
He is survived by his three children, daughters, Lib Grimmett and Tina Brunner, son, Michael Brunner, brothers, William (Bill) Brunner, Earl Pond and wife Sue, and sister, Peggy Pond, cousins, Dr. Charles (Shorty) Fox and wife, Janie, Carol Crosslin and husband Dell, Fritz Sander and wife, Mary Lou, Margaret Ann Adams and husband Galen, numerous nieces and nephews and second and third cousins.
There will be a Graveside service at Calvary Cemetery Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 at 11 am.
