Emma Mae Greer
Emma died on Nov.3, 2015 at the age of 101. She was born May 18, 1914 and grew up in Cumberland Furnace and Dickson, Tennessee. She was married for fifty years to Robert Carlton Greer and made her home in both Dickson and Nashville.
Emma is survived by her daughter, Ruby Smith, granddaughters Jill Smith and Gina Fox (Tim), great grandson Bryant Fox, nephews Wade Peeler (Brenda), David Peeler (Beverly), many cousins, nephews and nieces.
She is preceded in death by parents, Willie Mae and Marvin Thomas Baker; husband, Robert Carlton Greer; son in law, Kayo Smith, all seven sisters, Virginia Pilkinton (Ray), Edith Dotson(Luther), Laura Suggs (Willard), Ruby Peeler Moore (Edward), Isabelle Street (Horace), Doris Coleman (Vice); Rachel Drane (Willard) and two brothers Floyd and Slayden Baker.
During her long life, Emma was very active enjoying quilting, sewing, traveling, canning, crocheting, watching football, worshipping and spending time with family. She retired from Green Valley Nursing home in Dickson at age 82 as a longtime bookkeeper. Emma has countless memories of watching Kayo play sports, Todd playing baseball, keeping Chastina, Ronelda and Charles Greer, worshipping with David Peeler at Taylortown and doing anything related to Bryant.
Enormous thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Christian Care Center of Cheatham Co. for also being her friend for six years.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Churches of Christ Disaster Relief.
A Celebration of life will be on Friday, November 6, 2015, at 12:00pm, at West Harpeth Funeral Home with David Peeler officiating. Interment will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
