Rev. Enim Etukudo ISONG
At age 57, Rev. Enim Etukudo Isong departed to be with the Lord on Sunday May 1, 2011. Rev. Isong was born in Mkpat Enin, Mkpat Enin Local Government, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria to Mr. and Mrs. Isong Usen of Udoya family. He is survived by a wife, Idongesit Isong, three daughters: Nkandi, Ekanem, and Inyang, two sons: Usen, and Isong E. Isong and wife Christina, a Nephew, Emmanuel and wife Blessing, one grandchild: Wang and a host of other relatives and friends. Rev. Isong was a lover of education. He taught in several elementary and secondary schools in Nigeria before coming to the United States in 1981 to further his education. He was offered a Teacher Assistant position at Jackson State University while studying for his master's degree. Rev. Isong graduated from Jackson State University in Jackson, MS., with a Bachelor's and Master's in Political Science. Rev Isong latter moved with his family to Nashville and continued to work in the area of education. He taught at the Transition Learning Center in Nashville, after the closing of the Transition Learning Center, he served as a substitute teacher for Nashville Metro Schools. Rev. Isong worked at Tennessee State University as the Assistant Director of Student Activities - a position he held till his transition to glory. Rev. Isong was a devoted Christian; having been raised in a Christian family, his life was guided by faith in Jesus Christ. After receiving a call to the ministry, he was ordained as minister of the gospel by the Bible Missionary Church. He was one of the founding members of the Bible Missionary Church in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Now, we are celebrating the divine promotion of a faithful man, husband, father, brother and friend. The Late Rev. Enim Isong believed the word of God and lived a godly life! He waded through our present dark world of sin and hate with courage and now has entered into the promised eternity where he henceforth enjoys and rejoices with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! He was a community leader and walked the land with an exemplary pattern of life- peaceful, humble and trustworthy. Rev. Isong touched the lives of many people and will surely be missed. He was a devoted family man, loving father and a great husband. Visitation will be 4pm to 8pm on May 20, 2011 at West Harpeth Funeral Home 6962 Charlotte Pike Nashville, TN 37209. Memorial service will be at 1pm on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Bethel World Outreach Center 5670 Granny White Pike Brentwood, TN 37027. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to "FBO Isong Family", by mailing checks to Regions Bank, 7608 Highway 70S, Nashville, TN 37221 or to any Regions Bank branch office.
