FITZGERALD, Ernest E. "Ernie"-age 72, passed away January 4, 2013. Ernie was born in Nashville, TN and was a graduate of Hume Fogg High School. In 1962 he married his loving wife Trish and moved to Hendersonville, TN. He was the founder of Custom Homes Inc. and Fitzgerald Construction. He built and designed custom homes as well as built commercial property and land development. Some of his custom developments and designs include the construction of "Twitty City" and "Tanasi Shores". He also authored a book on how to build a home called "Custom Homes". After being diagnosed with a rare disease causing him to become blind over a period of time he continued to build for 30 plus years. It was said "For a man that lost his sight he had great vision". He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia A. "Trish" Fitzgerald; brother-in-law, R. Don Harlow and sister-in-law, Carolyn Harlow along with several loving cousins. A Life Celebration Service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home with Steve Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Jim Moore, Tom Donaldson, Eddie Kissinger, Christian Kissinger, Paul R. Goode, Harry McFarlin, Robert Hawn and Jirka Kauer. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Lance, Don Harlow, Dale Willett, and Taylor Milliken.
