Eugene “Gene” Lyle Cook of Bartlett, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at the age of 62 while in Nashville, TN. Gene was a born-again Christian of the Baptist faith and a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Memphis, TN.
He was born November 20, 1959, in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was the youngest of five children. He served in the United States Air Force. He retired as an Aircraft and Powerplant Mechanic from FedEx at the end of 2021.
He loved and was loved by his family. He was a wonderful husband, great dad and good friend. He could fix about anything. He even installed something to the increase the gas mileage on an old car once by using a Ball mason jar, wire, water and baking soda.
Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Sheila G Cook, daughter of James and Carolyn Smith. They were married September 23, 1989 in Dell, Arkansas at the Dell Baptist Church. They were married for 32 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Christina (husband Chris) Barnes, granddaughter, Sophia and his son, Christopher. He also leaves behind his brother, Mike; and his sister, Vicki.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Eugene Cook; his brothers, Stephen and Tom.
Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in Gene’s honor.
The family will receive friends from 10:30AM until 12:30PM on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at West Harpeth Funeral Home located at 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville. Services will begin at 12:30PM with Pastor Finley Cutshaw officiating. Immediately following the service, Gene will be laid to rest in the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville.
