COX, Faye Sawyer- Pegram, Born on October 30, 1936 and passed away peacefully on September 2, 2012 of kidney failure. She was a breast cancer survivor. She graduated from Bellevue High School, as an honor student and co-captain of the cheerleading squad. Faye was a member of Bellevue Church of Christ and was the first church secretary. She married Richard on July 2, 1960. They lived in Bellevue, TN for 34 years before moving to Pegram, TN to be close to their grandchildren. Faye worked for Valentine Shoe Co. Genesco. She also worked for the Metro School system for 23 years as a secretary at Cohn HS and Pearl-Cohn HS until retirement. She was very well respected by the school staff and students whom she loved dearly. Faye was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her extended family is numerous and was a loved by many. Faye was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Willingham Sawyer and her father A.D. Sawyer; step-mother, Olivia Carson Sawyer; step-father, Herb Sawyer; sister, Mildred Sawyer Adams. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Richard G. Cox; children, Sharon Renee "Sherry" Cox and R. Gary Cox, Jr. Wendy McCool Cox; grandchildren, Garrett and Olivia Cox; sister, Frances Sawyer Kingsley; brother, Buzz Sawyer. The family wants to thank the Spirit Team at Bellevue Church of Christ who provided food throughout her illness. The Fresenius Clinic staff & patients, as well as the staff at St. Thomas Hospital and Dialysis Dept., were all dear and kind to Faye. A special thanks to Alive Hospice who were very caring and thoughtful during her final weeks. The family will always be grateful for her doctors, Dr. Douglas Holliday, Dr. Stanley Lee and Dr. Vito Rocco, for their care over the years. A life celebration service will be at 2pm on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with Dr. Marlin Connelly officiating. Interment to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers: Michael Dodson, Kyle Turnham, Scotty Goodrich, Warren Goodrich, Billy Felman and Larry Walker. Honorary Pallbearers: Rickey Goodrich, Mike Goodrich, Clayton McCool and Howard Dodson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to Alive Hospice or the National Kidney Foundation. .
