Hatchett, Fred Smith - Age 87 went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2016.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Arch A. Hatchett and Louise Smith Hatchett; brothers, Arch Jr. Hatchett, James Hatchett of Nashville, and Thomas Hatchett of Goodlettsville; sister, Mary Lou Hunsberger.
Fred is survived by sister, Martha Jane Rhodes of Jacksonville, Fl. Fred was a member of Charlotte Heights Church of Christ. He was educated in the public schools graduating from Cohn High School class of 1947. He earned his B.S. and M.A. degrees from Peabody College. He served in the USAF four years in air traffic control. He worked in the public schools of Nashville for 35 years. Fred was active in family genealogy and was a long time supporter of the Franklin County Historical Society. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fred Hatchett Scholarship Fund, Lipscomb University College of Education or the Franklin Historical Society or Charity of your choice. The Celebration of Life will be Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:00am at West Harpeth Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm and also one hour prior to service time on Saturday. Interment will be at 3:00pm at Moore Memorial Cemetery in Huntland, TN.
