Gayle Whalen

Gayle Marie Whalen of Nashville passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the age of 81. She was born on January 1, 1940 to the late Edgar Thomas and Lola Marie Baker. She enjoyed Bible study, family, and John Wayne. She was of the Catholic faith. Gayle was involved in Ladies of Charity and the Guild of St. Ann’s. She graduated from Hume Fogg High School. Gayle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Gayle leaves behind to cherish her memory her Husband of 63 years, Robert Thomas Whalen; children, Cynthia Marie (Ken) McFadden, Debbie De’Ann (Jerry) Hall, and Julie Lynne (Danny) Stewart; brother, Edgar Thomas (Jackie) Baker; grandchildren, Brandon Hall, Christina Rook, Michael (Kristi) Sullivan, Cody (Paige) Stewart, Brittany Hall, and Kathryn (Ryan) Benefield; great-grandchildren, Ciana, Ethan, Drew, Lizzie, Taegan, Camryn, Whalen, Whit, Rylan, Bryar, Ellis, and Hallelujah; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.

Visitation will be held from 3:00PM until 7:00PM on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at West Harpeth Funeral Home located at 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00AM on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at St. Ann Catholic Church located at 5101 Charlotte Ave, Nashville, TN 37209. Following the Mass, Gayle will be laid to rest in the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. Following the burial on Wednesday, a time of fellowship for family and friends will be held at West Harpeth Funeral Home until 4:00PM.
