Harvey Capps

Harvey Foster Capps, age 87 of Hendersonville, passed away, November 24, 2009. Mr. Capps was born April 29, 1922 in Whites Creek, TN. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed at Terminal Island, CA, the Midway Islands in the Pacific, Kaneohe Bay and Honolulu, HA. He served many years with the United States Postal Service and was a charter member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Madison, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Joane Tea Capps; parents, Searcy Nield and Selma Augusta Stenberg Capps; sister, Gladys Ballard; and his brother, Albert Capps. He is survived by his two daughters, Dana Deonna Capps Fuqua and Diana Deliah Capps Gerson; granddaughters, Daria Alexandra and Sophia Christiana Gerson and Brittaney Deshea Summers; grandson, Randolph Kole Summers; great-granddaughter, Isabella Rose Gerson; sisters, Dorothy Harttung and Sandra Reinhardt; brother, Sven Capps, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM, Friday, November 27, 2009 from the Hendersonville Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tom Vanderbilt officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Hendersonville Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 P.M., Wednesday, November 25, 2009 and from 10 AM until the time of service on Friday, at Hendersonville Funeral Home.
