James F.Age 82, passed away August 08 2016. James Dozier was born July 17, 1934 to Hubert Dozier Sr & Mattie (Joslin) Dozier, the youngest of nine children.

He attended school in Cheatham County and entered the military in September 1954. In 1955, he returned to his Cheatham County home and began working as a machinist at Tennessee Wheel in Nashville, TN. He later retired from Urethane Associates in Fairview TN in July of 1999. He was a resident of Ashland City.

James loved to fish and in his younger days spent many weekends with his boat and fishing buddies on Kentucky Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hubert Dozier Sr. & Mattie Joslin Dozier, wife of 18 years, Estelle Kathrine Dozer, who passed away in September of 2004. Also preceded in death by brothers Alvin Dozier, Hubert Dozier Jr., Walter Dozier and Emory Dozier and sisters Annie Lou Allen, Ruby Ragan and Tennie Mae Gower.

Survivors include a brother L.C. (Anta) Dozier. He is also survived by his nieces Treavie (Bill) Bennett and Bonnie (Carl) Cothern who were his long time care givers following the death of his wife. James is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation with family will begin Friday August 12, 2016 at the West Harpeth Funeral Home from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, the time of service. Nephew Dan Dozier officiating. Burial Monday August 15th at 10:00 am.

Pallbearers will be Carl Cothern, Bill Bennett, Murray Dozier, Ty Harris, Rick Dozier, Matthew Dozier and Don Nicholson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greenbrier Church of Christ Cemetery in Ashland City.
