James Douglas Hemby was born in Nashville, TN on July 29, 1931. At age 87, he passed away after complications with surgery on June 14, 2019 in hospital with family by his side. He graduated from Cohn High School in 1950. Doug is survived by his daughters, Karen Hemby and Vicki Otto, and his grandchildren, Jessica Otto and Aaron Otto, and brother, Randall Hemby. Doug will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2019 at West Harpeth Funeral Home with Dr. Hubert Cunningham officiating. Burial to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be held Friday 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at West Harpeth Funeral Home.
