James Mark (Mac) McGahey, age 67, of Pegram, TN passed away at his home on August 13, 2018 surrounded by loving family. He was born on January 3, 1951 in Nashville to the late Floyd and Virginia McGahey.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of over 25 years, Connie McGahey. He is also survived by his children Jolene DeVault(Bryan), Jim Wilson(Janet), Tera Robinson(Ben), and Lori Neblett(Anthony); grandchildren, Samantha, Matthew, Kaylie, Morgan, Caleb, Garrett, Sophie, and Hannah; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Mark proudly served his country in the United States Army for a total of 8 years. He served in Vietnam and Germany. His brave service left him as a very distinguished veteran, earning several medals and commendations, including the Purple Heart.
After his service, Mark started with Peterson Tools in Nashville working as a machinist, where he stayed for 26 years. His was, at one point, a licensed gunsmith which kept him busy working on and with guns and ammunition. He also had a passion for motorcycles and books. When it was time for a meal, Mark's favorites were steak, potatoes, homegrown tomatoes and banana pudding for dessert.
Mark's family will always remember his quality traits. He was a dependable husband and father, always there when they needed him. He was respected and he respected others. Mark's calm demeanor and strict composure showed them what true love and patience was all about.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 11:00am at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on McCrory Lane in Nashville with Military Honors.
