James Edward "Eddie" Pitt, Sr., age sixty, of Nashville, Tennessee, died March 11th, 2018, after a difficult battle with esophageal cancer. Eddie was a graduate of Hume Fogg High School in Nashville, Tennessee, and was trained in drafting at Nashville State Community College. He worked for the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation for eleven years before leaving to do consulting work. Over the course of his career, he worked in steel sales and, most recently, as a school bus monitor with Metro Nashville Public Schools. Eddie enjoyed monitoring his fish tanks, maintaining the family pool, tinkering with things around the house, watching NASCAR races, and spending time with family, especially grandchildren. He was also fond of American muscle cars and classic television and movies, especially action films, Andy Griffith, and Westerns, including Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, and John Wayne.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Cindy Sullivan Pitt; children, Mandi Pitt-Reed (Jordan Reed), James Pitt, Jr. (Kristina Sandgren), Jacob Pitt (Ashley Bartrum); grandchildren, Kaylee Pitt, JB Flair, Adriana Flair; sister, Connie Pitt Hines; and many loving brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Irene Pitt, parents-in-law John and Yvonne Sullivan, aunt Ruby Lee Heber, and close family friends Clyde Hurt and Lillie Kerby.
Visitation will be at Saint Ann Catholic Church in Breen Hall from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, March 15th, 2018. The rosary will be said in the church sanctuary at 10 AM Friday, March 16th, 2018, with visitation at 10:30 AM and Mass of the Resurrection to follow at 11 AM, officiated by Rev. Father Jerry Strange. A graveside burial service will immediately follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, officiated by Rev. Deacon Marty Mulloy.
Active pallbearers will be James Pitt, Jr., Jacob Pitt, Jordan Reed, Doug Pillow, David Pillow, and John M. Sullivan, Jr. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Bruce Richards, Michael Patterson, Michael Dimaiuta, Roy Armstrong, Don Locke, Paul Schoenfeld, Charlie Gruber, Brian Pillow, Joshua Armstrong, Douglas Schoenfeld, Jackson Jolly, Jared Armstrong, and Robert Locke.
If desired, donations in his memory may be made to the Saint Ann School Tuition Assistance Fund or to Alive Hospice Patterson Street.
