James "Skip" N. Slaton- Age 73, Born in Rome, Georgia on September 4, 1942, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015, leaving his illness behind and joining Jesus Christ. He is preceded in death by his father, Cecil D. Slaton. Skip is survived by the love of his life and his world of 30 years, Pam Slaton; children, Sandy, Shari, Kim, and Robby; 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; his mother, Mildred L. Slaton; sisters, Helen Zercher and Linda Johnson. Skip worked for Marty Robbins and was on the Pitt Crew of Marty's race team, and drove Marty's tour bus around the country. Later, Skip drove tour buses for many famous artists for many years. He also owned Skip's Coach Coral. Before he retired, he worked at Eagle Nest Coach as a mechanic on tour buses. Skip was a loving husband who loved Pam more than life itself. He gave his heart and soul to her. Skip was a hero to his children, and to all that knew him. He was such an incredible man who lived life to the fullest. He lit up any room he walked in. Skip was a person that you were better off for having known him. The family would like to send a special thank you to: Dr. Shell, Dr. Vanhook, Dr. Kayser, and Dr. Gore. A Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at 2:00pm, at West Harpeth Funeral Home with Buck Dozier, Don Spears, and Sean Dozier officiating. Interment will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be: Steve Zercher, Don Agan, Jason Agan, Wayne McMurtry, Bobby Boyd, Sean Dozier, Michael Proctor and Jamie Proctor. Honorary pallbearers will be: Robby Slaton, Bobby Dozier, Steve Dozier, Gregory Huffine, David Dozier, Michael Dozier, and Andy Dozier, Okie Jones, Jim Webb, Matt Zercher, Ken VanDeren, Gene Mooney, David Hunt, John Crosslin, Dell Crosslin, Dan Miller, Randy Morgan, Lawrence Cruz, Col. Bill Britt, Joe Mann, Van Parrish, Paul Moran, Jarrett Christy, Neil Proctor, Brad McMurtry, and Eagle Nest Coach.
