Ms. Jerry Lynn (Harris) Deere - age 73, passed away October 21, 2016. She is preceded in death by her husband, David Deere and her parents, Cleve and Martha Harris.
She is survived by her daughters, Kellie Kinnaman McGrath (Ray), Winder, GA, and Sandra Kinnaman, Wesley Chapel, FL; her granddaughter, Samantha McGrath, Winder, GA; her brother, Joel Harris, Nashville.
Jerry was born and raised in West Nashville and graduated from Cohn High School in 1961. Since then she lived in many places (St Louis, Kansas City, Columbus (OH), Chicago, Chattanooga, Cleveland (TN), Lawrenceville (GA), and Memphis to name a few, but Nashville was always home. It is difficult to fully describe what a wonderful and caring woman she was or how she affected others, but possibly sharing a few sentiments that we have received will help:
A lot of you knew Jerry through the skating rink in Cleveland where she and David managed Hot Wheels during the late 70's and early 80's. David and Jerry were very special to me and were like my family. I know some of you feel the same. They were both very special people and had a huge influence on my life. -Brent Clayton
I am so sorry to hear this. I didn't realize she was sick. Would love to have seen her again. She and David touched so many lives and had a permanent influence on all of us all those years ago. My prayers to Kellie, Sandy and Putt and to all who loved her so. - Kathy Kile
They were my family when I really needed an extended family. I love them all. - Ronda Phillips
I'm so saddened to hear about this. Jerry and David embraced this awkward Bachman Home kid as family, and changed my life. I'll always remember her with a smile. My heart goes out to her family. - Jerry Clingan
I'll never ever forget her. I was a little tiny-Chicago-boy she took me in and with David and Brent who made me the skater I was and the man I am. It is a very sad day for Adam Gage, my friends. The way she made me feel calling me Yankee, feeding me, and teaching me to grow up. I will miss her awful. - Adam Gage
Jerry and David were a special influence on my life. I loved them for accepting me and Robbie into the skating family. - Wendell Defriece
