John Jackson Greer

John Jackson Greer, 92, of Nashville, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023. John was born on June 20, 1931, to the late Clarence and Ovia Jackson Greer. He served his country in the United States Marines. John retired from NES after 45 years where he worked as a lineman and supervisor. He was an avid gardener and a devoted family man. Throughout the years, John attended Pegram Church of Christ, Charlotte Avenue Church of Christ, and West Nashville Heights Church of Christ.

 

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Shirley Fay Hunt Greer; three brothers, Howard, Frank, and Miller; and four sisters, Annie Mae, Ovia Lee, Lucille, and Martha.

 

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, John Jr. (Linda), Gerald (Jo Carolyn), and Clyde (Pam); grandchildren, Jeromy Greer (Heather), John Bradley Greer (Kelly), Leslie (Dom) McDade, and Johnathan Greer; great-grandchildren, Katie, Jaxon, Lilah, Ava, Lincoln, and Kingston; sister, Frances Ketchum.

 

The family will receive friends to celebrate the lives of both John and Shirley on Monday, September 25, 2023, from 11:00AM until 1:00PM at West Harpeth Funeral Home located at 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville. Following the visitation, John and Shirley will be laid to rest together in Woodlawn Memorial Park at 2:00PM on Monday.
