John McLeroy, 72, of Kingston Springs, TN, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024. Born in Oakland, CA, on December 21, 1951, as the only child to Phillip McLeroy and Blenda Ford, John became the youngest of a beautiful blended family of six children.
John proudly dedicated 22 years to the United States Air Force, where he served with distinction in the Security Police. Rising through the ranks, John retired honorably as a Captain. His career led him to Germany, where he met his wife in 1973. Later, they moved across the United States with their son before settling in TN.
In retirement from military service, John was a well-known local realtor who loved to hunt, fish, boat, and, most importantly, spend time with his friends and family. He was active in his community, including serving as the mayor of his hometown, Kingston Springs. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, crack a good joke, and share his vast knowledge with others.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Phillip McLeroy and Blenda Ford; siblings, Clyde Thomas, June Conklin, Joyce Kremin, and Myrtle Brunson; and several nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 50 years, Elke McLeroy; his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Meghan McLeroy; his granddaughters, Madeline, Meredith, and Mallorie McLeroy; his sister Darlene Sparks, and his many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family cordially invites relatives and friends to a Celebration of Life service on Friday, December 6, 2024, at two o'clock in the afternoon, followed by a time of visiting until four o'clock in the afternoon, held at West Harpeth Funeral Home, 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville.
