Laverne Clinton

Laverne Huffman Bales Clinton, age 85, passed away peacefully in Hendersonville, TN on May 9, 2011 following a long illness. Ms. Clinton was born July 9, 1925 in Knoxville, TN and preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Hattie Huffman; sisters, Ruth, Jewel and Agnes; brother, James; husbands, Robert Porter Bales and Lewis Clinton. She is survived by her brother, Lawrence Huffman of Knoxville, TN; half-sister, Gloria Huffman; daughters, Gloria Jean Bales Locust of Mesquite, TX, Annette Marie Bales Speigel of Hendersonville, TN and Susan Darlene Bales Dupre of Houston, TX; son, Larry Ray Bales of Issaquah, WA; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is best remembered for singing with the Huffman Sisters in Knoxville, her award-winning ballroom dancing and leading the singing for her Sunday school group at the United Methodist Church of Atlanta, TX. Graveside services will be conducted at Saturday 2 P.M., May 14, 2011 in the Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 12 P.M. until 1:45 P.M., Saturday at Hendersonville Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to Caris Healthcare Hospice Services.
