WARD, Lilly Lane- Passed away in St. Thomas Hospital on January 30, 2013. She was born in Elk Park, NC on April 18, 1918, a daughter of John and Violet Lane. She lived in Nashville for the past 50 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George William Ward; grandson, Richard Smith; brothers and sisters, Claude Lane, Naomi Lail, Cline Lane, Lawrence Lane, Earl Lane and Ethel Nimmo. She is survived by sons, George William Ward, Jr. Nancy and Jerry Alan Smith Ann of Las Vegas, NV; grandsons, James Ward Melissa, George Ward Kerry of Dunwoody, GA and Stephen Smith of Las Vegas, NV; granddaughter, Rebecca Cole Jeromy of Aurora, CO; great-grandchildren, Julia and James Cole; sister-in-law, Joyce Lane. Lil managed a ladies boutique in West Meade until she retired in 1980. She was an avid bowler, loved bridge and enjoyed playing all kinds of cards and board games with her grandchildren. She spent her last 17 days under the outstanding and professional care of St. Thomas Hospital doctors and nurses- for which her family will be forever grateful. A life celebration service will be at 2:30pm on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The International Ministry at Harpeth Heights Baptist Church, 8063 Highway 100, Nashville, TN 37221.
