Loyal Tidwell

Loyal Amond Tidwell, age 91, passed from this life on May 10th, 2023. He is preceded in death by parents, Ike and Lettie Tidwell, three sisters and five brothers. Mr. Tidwell was also preceded in death by his devoted wife of 61 years, Gladys Tidwell. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Morris and Vickie Tidwell, grandsons and their wives, Brent & Alicia and Blake & Jackie. Mr. Tidwell is also survived by four great granddaughters, who would know him as PawPaw, Ruth, Josephine, Adelaide and Eleanor Tidwell. Several nieces and nephews survive, as well.

Mr. Tidwell was born and reared on a farm in Hickman County, Tennessee. Loyal met and married the love of his life, Gladys in 1952. Within a few months, they moved to Nashville. In 1953, they welcomed their one and only child, Morris. Loyal soon became employed as a finisher at Davis Cabinet Company where he became widely known as the "best there was". Even after retirement, his skill was sought after to the point his former employer would call for his help in the training of the new guys. He loved football, his garden and blackberry cobbler. But nothing compared to his visits with family, especially his grandsons.

He was a friend to many and loved being a help to anyone that needed it. His later years were spent at the Lodge at Natchez Trace where he became a popular resident. Morris and the entire family would like to express genuine appreciation to Alive Hospice, the Lodge and the amazing team of care givers there for their consistent care and concern.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 14, 2023, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at West Harpeth Funeral Home located at 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville. Additional visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, from 9:00AM until 11:00AM in the Chapel at West Harpeth. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00AM. Following the service, Mr. Tidwell will be laid to rest in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Bon Aqua, Tennessee.
