Martha Gass

GASS, Martha Ruth Fletcher "Muffy"- Age 56, Nashville, died suddenly on July 16, 2012. She was a nurse for many years at St. Thomas Hospital and a member of Harpeth Heights Baptist Church. A special thanks to all the many nurses at St. Thomas Hospital who took care of her during her illness and all of her Lipscomb family. She was a very loving mother and wife. Preceded in death by her father, Ben Sory Fletcher, Jr.; grandparents, Mattie Kirkwood Luther, Shirley Luther, Ruth Bryan Fletcher and Ben Sory Fletcher, Sr.; mother-in-law, Betsye Gass. Survived by her husband of 22 years, Andy Gass; daughter, Katie Gass; mother, Dorothy Luther Fletcher; father-in-law, Bill Joy Gass; brother, Ben Sory Fletcher III; brother-in-law, David Gass; 5 nieces and 1 nephew. She will be sadly missed by her family and 2 dogs, Stella and Ruby Sue. A life celebration service will be at 2pm on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Harpeth Heights Baptist Church, 9063 Hwy 100. Interment to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers: Lee Tywater, Ed Pitt, Bob Bennett, Vic Wesley, Fred Milligan, Dr. Joe Vance, Grant Higgs and Dick Cathey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nurses for Newborns of Tennessee. Visitation, Wednesday, 4-8 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home and Thursday 12-2pm at the church.
