Martha McIntyre Schindler, age 93 of Nashville departed this life on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Born on August 26, 1921, she was the only child of the late Hugh and Myra Dinning McIntyre.
Mrs. Schindler was a Nashville Native and graduated from West End High School in 1939. She was employed by Southern Bell Telephone Company for five years. She then married her husband of 46 years Harold W. Schindler on February 16, 1946. In 1949 she and her husband started a wholesale building business that operated for over 24 years. She promised to work for him for two years while the business got off its feet, retiring 24 years later. Mr. Schindler was recalled to service during the Korean War and Mrs. Schindler ran the business until his return. Mrs. Schindler and her husband had no children of their own but she is survived by many cousins.
Services are to be conducted at Bellevue United Methodist Church by Rev. Lora Jean Gown and Dr. Gary Cornell on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 1:00pm. Visitation with family and friends will be on Tuesday from 12-1 prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Active Pallbearers: Jamie Roberts, Norman Nuismer, Steve Richard, Rudy Schindler, Kurt Schindler, Thomas Kanaday, Robert Young, and James Austell.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bellevue United Methodist Church, 7501 Old Harding Pike, Nashville, Tennessee 37221.
