Mary Louise Gower Garland

Born August 9, 1926, our beloved Aunt Mary passed away on February 23, 2018.

She graduated from Bellevue High School and spent her entire career of 40 years with American Telephone & Telegraph (AT&T) before retiring. She was a member of Richard Baptist Church, the Telephone Pioneers of America, an avid fan of Pat Summit's Lady Vols Basketball team and UT football. As Mary would often say, "Go Vols"

She is preceded in passing by her husband of 64 years, John G. Garland; parents, Felix Stockell Gower Sr., and Mary Smith Gower; sisters, Martha G. Brandon (Mary's twin), Elizabeth G. Brandon; brothers, Felix Stockell Gower, Jr., Richard (Dick) Gower, Finley Eugene Gower; nieces, Betty Ann Cordes, Joyce B. Vick, and nephew, Roger Gower.

She is survived by nephews, Joe D. Gower and Robert Gower; nieces, Jane E. Hulett and June M. Gilmore, and adopted family of Sam and Linda Mann.

A Celebration of Life will be on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 12:00pm, at West Harpeth Funeral Home with David Filson officiating. Interment will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00pm until 7:00pm, and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at West Harpeth Funeral Home, 6962 Charlotte Pike, (615) 352-9400.
