BENNETT, Melvin "Tom" Age 75 of Hendersonville passed away December 6, 2011. Mr. Bennett served his country in the U. S. Air Force from 1956 – 1960. After his military career he worked as an electronic engineer from 1961 – 1981. The next eight years he and his wife owned and operated a small business. He was a renaissance man and silent thinker -- no challenge or puzzle was too great. He enjoyed spending time with his 4 children, their spouses and 8 grandchildren; he believed family was the most important thing in life. During retirement Tom enjoyed traveling with his wife. He had many hobbies including: golf, wood working, playing trumpet and keyboard, computer technology, motorcycles, cars, tennis and cooking. He also enjoyed boating and fishing in Bonita Springs, Florida and on the lakes of Michigan. He was a man of great faith; he was a parishioner and volunteer of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Mary P. Bennett; children, Kathleen Hastings Michael, Paula Bourget Daniel, Anna Bennett and Thomas Bennett Heather; grandchildren, Alexander Hastings, Stephanie Hastings, Christopher Bourget, Jacob Bourget, Sarah Bourget, Danielle Bourget, Remy Rincher and Mara Rincher; siblings, Betty Segulquist and Vern D. Bennett. A Funeral Mass will be held 11am Saturday December 10, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church 1729 Stop 30 Rd Hendersonville. Visitation will be 5pm – 7pm Friday December 9, 2011 with a Rosary at 7pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, P.O.
