Mildred Louise Peden Phillips, 78, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023, The Waters of Cheatham in Ashland City. She was born in Decatur, Alabama, on August 22, 1944, to the late James Anthony and Minnie Louise Burgett Peden. Mildred enjoyed sewing, playing video games on her phone and computer, and going fishing. She especially loved her westerns, including Gunsmoke and Cheyenne. Mildred loved animals, especially her dog, Lollipop. Above all, Mildred loved her family endlessly. She also enjoyed hanging out with her friends at Tulip Wood in Centerville, TN.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, John Howard Philips, Sr.; son, John Howard Phillips, Jr.; granddaughter, Dusty Phillips; great-granddaughter, Haleigh Peden; and all of her siblings.
She leaves behind her sons, James (Robbie) Peden, Charles Edward Phillips, and Robin Phillips; grandsons, James Darrell Peden, John Brandon Peden, and Abie Rae Peden; step-grandson, Corey (Brittany) Gentry; great-grandchildren, James Darrell Peden, Jr., Alexis Sharp, Jason Peden, Jaylee Peden, and Penelope Grace Peden; and step-great-granddaughter, Aaliyah Gentry.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 21, 2023, from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at West Harpeth Funeral Home located at 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville. Additional Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, in the Chapel at West Harpeth from 9:00AM until 1:00PM. Services will begin at 1:00PM in the Chapel at West Harpeth with Pastor Tom Gholson officiating. Following the service, Mildred will be laid to rest in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
