Myrlan Rhodes, Sr.

Myrlan Wayne Rhodes, Sr., 73, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. He was born on November 21, 1949, in Wayne County, TN, to the late Oliver Lee and Edna Jaynes Rhodes. Myrlan was married to his late wife, Betty Jean Rhodes, for 49 years prior to her passing in 2019. Together they enjoyed bowling league together. Myrlan enjoyed fishing and hunting when he wasn’t at home spending time with his dog, Minnie. Myrlan was a gifted tree surgeon and also liked tending to his garden.

In addition to his parents, Myrlan was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Rhodes; brothers, Hollis, Paul, and Jerry; and sisters, Brenda White, Elaine Haithcoat, and Glenda Rhodes.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Myrlan Rhodes, Jr., Christopher Rhodes, and Misty Bell; grandchildren, Chasity Clark and Matthew Rhodes; siblings, Eugene, Terry, Gary, Glaydes, and Wanda; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 26, 2023, from 2:00PM until 8:00PM at West Harpeth Funeral Home located at 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville. Additional Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, from 11:00AM until 1:00PM at the Funeral Home. Services will begin at 1:00PM on Tuesday, with Reverend Tony Larkins officiating. Following the service, Myrlan will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
