Myrtle Mai Powell Carlton, Age 94, born June 19, 1924 in Nashville, Tennessee, entered eternal and Heavenly rest on September 19, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Powell and Hattie Rice Powell; her husband, JC Carlton, Sr.; daughter Deborah Carlton; brother Joy Powell, sisters; Geny Cantrell, and Christine Miller.

She is survived by son, JC Carlton (Kathy). Grandchildren, Joe Carlton (Selena) and Jennifer Carlton Ladd (Rob). Ben Poprawski. Grandchildren, Elijah, Samantha, Isaiah, Hadley, Beylan, Reyna, Battle, Gabby, and Hunter in addition to an extended family, and many nieces and nephews.

She met her husband at the old Bellevue High School and was married for 54 years. They lived a large portion of their lives in West Nashville and retired "in the country" in McEwen, TN. She was the last living Charter member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Nashville. She and her husband helped form the church in 1947. She was devoted to her Lord and always said she wanted to go "up yonder" when she left this world.

She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. Heaven gained an angel. She will be remembered as the sweetest person by all.

Special appreciation and heartful thanks to the staff at Brookdale, Bellevue for years of incredible loving care. Especially, caregivers Lynn, Buddy, Gloria, Charyel, and Jeannie. We would also like to thank Alive Hospice.

Visitation will Friday, September 21 at West Harpeth Funeral Home 6-8 pm. A private family graveside service will be on Saturday, September 22 at Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can made to St. John's United Methodist Church and Alive Hospice. In honor of Myrtle and the life she lived, please be sweet to someone and tell them you love them the "most-est".
