We are saddened to announce the passing of Nadipuram R. Srinivasan during the early hours of Sunday, February 19, 2023, at the age of 92. Born in 1930, Mr. Srinivasan overcame many difficult circumstances early in life to educate himself and carve out an illustrious career as a leather technology expert in India. He progressed through sheer hard work and academic merit to positions of increasing responsibility in locations like Chennai, Kanpur, Indore, Mumbai, etc. He moved to the United States in 1981 with his family to Gloversville, NY where he was renowned as an international expert in leather technology. He traveled extensively for consulting positions internationally and longer assignments in countries like China, Russia, Argentina, Germany etc. He was accomplished in many languages; in addition to fluency in many Indian languages like Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, and Telugu, he was very proficient in German and Russian. He was particularly fluent in classical Sanskrit which fueled his passion for Hindu scriptural texts.
Upon retirement, he settled in Nashville TN with his daughter Rekha and son-in-law Ram Kaushik in 2000. He enjoyed time with his Nashville grandchildren during their early years. He has remained extremely active in the Hindu community and with events at the Sri Ganesha Temple Nashville where he taught many classes on Indian philosophy (Vedanta) and scripture. As a credit to his openness to new experiences, he embraced technology even at an advanced age; beginning 2010, he developed a blog series on the web, “Hindu Reflections” – which continues to be immensely popular today ( https://nrsrini.blogspot.com/ ). He has published over 500 articles on topics related to Hindu thought and engaged in spirited debates over email with his many followers. He was disciplined to the end following his mantra of active mind & active body and was a regular gymgoer until the age of 89. His larger-than-life presence, laughter, and enthusiasm for life will be sorely missed by friends and family, but his was a life well lived.
Mr. Srinivasan is survived by his wife Jayalakshmi, daughter Rekha Kaushik & son-in-law Ram Kaushik (Nashville); son Ravi Srinivasan & daughter-in-law Mallika Srinivasan (Sacramento), and his five grandchildren – Roshni, Chiraag, Vijay, Anusha and Anjali.
A Celebration of Life gathering for Mr. Srinivasan will be held at West Harpeth Funeral Home, 6962 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN, 37209 on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 3:00PM. Friends and family are welcome to pay respects.

Death is certain for one who has been born, and rebirth is inevitable for one who has died. Therefore, you should not lament over the inevitable.
