Nell Caldwell

Nell Gassaway Caldwell of Nashville, TN, passed away at the age of 87 on March 14, 2020. She was born on August 9, 1932. Nell was preceded in death by parents, Elisa Era and Chester Arthur Gassaway; four brothers, Carl, Charlie, Nick, and Paul Gassaway.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, James E. Caldwell; sister, Mary Johnson, and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; great great nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Charlotte Heights Church of Christ since childhood. Nell was a graduate of Cohn High School in Nashville; also a graduate of UT Nashville nursing program. She loved to ski on the lake, boating, flying, traveling, camping and in her earlier years, she played basketball. Nell was employed by NES and Metro Health Department.

A Celebration of her life will be on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at 1PM, at West Harpeth Funeral Home on Charlotte. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10AM until the service time both at the West Harpeth. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
