Oscar Lea Carver, entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 11, 2023. He was born in White House, TN, on August 7, 1931, to the late Oscar William and Velma Lea Johnson Carver. He was a graduate of East High School where he was on the baseball and rifle teams. Oscar proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He married Betty Ruth McGrady Carver in 1951. They were happily married for 72 years before her passing earlier this year. He worked for Williams Printing Company until his retirement. Oscar enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, and hiking. He was a member and served as an elder at Charlotte Heights Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, Oscar was preceded in death by his son, Richard Carver, and siblings, Dorothy Mae Thomas, John Thomas Carver, and Homer Lindsey.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Judy (Aaron) Holt; grandchildren, Lea Carver, Alex (Sybil) Holt, and Mary (Dylan) Clark; great-grandchildren, Olivia Holt, Wash Clark, and Wallace Clark; brothers, James Lindsey and Rudy Lindsey; and a host of extended family members and beloved friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:00AM until 1:00PM on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Charlotte Heights Church of Christ located at 6833 Old Charlotte Pike in Nashville. A Celebration of Oscar’s life will begin at 1:00PM. Following the Service, Oscar will be laid to rest next to his wife, Betty, in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
