Richard Ray Hedgepath, Sr., a gentle giant, born August 12, 1936, passed away peacefully at home January 25, 2018. Preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Annette Saunders, parents Vernon and Berryl, and sister Maxine. Survived by two sons, Richard Jr. and Philip, grandchildren Garrett and Maggie, and great-grandchild Zaniah, brother Robert (Barbara), and sister Geraldine Hedgepath. Also survived by Linda Diguette, Julia Hedgepath, and Debbie Williams.
Richard, a veteran, was a graduate of Cohn High School, Peabody College, and the YMCA Night Law School. He practiced law in Nashville for 40 years with the law firm Collins Hedgepath Lee & Young. He deeply admired Benton County and the Tennessee River, and he was an active member at St John's UMC and served at the soup kitchen. Ray will be remembered as a loving, devoted, generous, and compassionate man, a true gentleman.
